Schmelzer
Family
After graduating from CHS in 1963, I attended beauty school in Missouri. In
1964, I met and married Ed Schmelzer. Soon after, Ed was shipped off to
VietNam and I settled in Seattle, Washington with his parents and attended
beauty school there. Ed returned home in 1965 and we moved to Kirkland. In
1970, our first child, Katy, was born. Two years later, our second daughter,
Marika, was born. We then moved to Hawaii in 1979 and Ed managed a truss
company. After living in Hawaii for one year, we then moved back to
Washington and lived in Pasco for a few years. Another move found us living
in Bellevue where Ed bought a retread shop and I answered the phone and etc.
We then built a home in Houghton, Washington. During this time, Ed went into
the home construction business and we moved to Fall City, a town smaller than
Cairo. We built another home there and settled until the kids finished school
and married. We semi-retired in 2001 in Olalla, Washington, which is a very
quiet, country town and close to Breamerton and Gig Harbor. We have one
daughter who lives in Bozeman, Montana and we are only an hour's drive from
the other. We are grandparents to one-10 year old granddaughter, Brittany,
and one-5 year old grandson, Seth.
In 1980, I started oil painting. I enjoy painting landscapes and flowers and
belong to Breamerton Art Guild and South Kitsap Art League. I have taught art
in my studio and enjoy meeting new friends.
I keep in contact with June Eppes and Janet Jackson Potts and am looking
forward to hearing from other of my CHS classmates.
